I am so tired. I am an insomniac of the highest order and I have probably had 4 hours of sleep since Friday. When I see the dr. on Thurs. about my back, I am going to see what he can do about it.
Anyway, I was able to get 4 pair of booties done for the Bootie Blitz with the Knitting for Children yahoo group. Now I just have to make myself sew them up. I am working on a way to do the same booties in the round - 2 on 2 circs from the top down with a 3 needle bind-off. Dare I say it: I HATE to sew things up, big time.
I have 2 wrist warmers done for CIC and have 2 more on the needles for this months challenge. Our totals seem a little skimpy this month, but I have faith that all the last minute mailers (me included) will bring our total up to our goal and even surpass it, as usual. I even adapted a straight needle pattern from the first two wristwarmers(pictured here) to be able to knit them 2 on 2 circs. I LOVE the 2 on 2 circs concept and do it wherever I can make it work.
I want to give credit to Elizabeth who is 14 year old and designed the wristwarmers that I am adapting. Her Mom is a member of the CIC list.
Well, I think I better get this posted before
poop-y old Blogger refuses to take the post. What a bummer, I hope they get themselves straightened out soon. I am really getting fed up with the uploading problems.
Back to the needles,

Lake Michigan pictures, at last.

I finally got Blogger to upload my pics. Somehow, I ended up with duplicates of one of them. And Blogger wouldn't let me delete the extra ones. So here they are. I have a couple more, but they wouldn't upload for some reason. I guess that Blogger is picking and choosing what it wants to upload, now.

Bootie Blitz and Lake MI

I'm taking part in a week-end blitz over on the Knitting for Children yahoo group. I have been kind of slacking off on knitting for them lately, so I welcome the chance to get some things made for our charities. So that is my main focus this week-end.

We spent the day on the road Saturday. Drove about a hundred miles round trip to go to Mom's and take her to do some shopping. So I was able to get two sets of booties knitted. They still need to be sewn together. It was worth the long drive. Besides, being the least we could do for Mom. She took us to a great place for lunch. I love olive burgers. I seldom eat beef, actually I seldom eat meat. But, I have been craving an olive burger for several weeks. Not just any burger will do, if I am going to eat it. It has to be great. Well, I got my olive burger fix! So, I was a happy camper.

On the way home we went by the lake again. hee-hee, surprise, surprise!! Took a couple pics, of course.

And we stopped at my favorite thrift shop on the way home, too. All white tagged clothes $.79 each. I go there looking for 100% wool sweaters to send to Kazaakstan(sp?) with the Mittens for Akkol yahoo group and also to send to Russian orphanages with the CIC yahoo group. I found four very nice sweaters that are going to go to Akkol in May. And I found out that if I take the DH with me on Tues. - Thurs. I can get 20% off of that seventy-nine cents!!!(senior discount)
I really did have a great day.

P.S. Well, blogger is being a poop, so I will have to upload my pics tomorrow, or later. Is it just me or is Blogger being poop-y a lot lately??

Winter Wonderland

Just had to post some winter pics. These were taken at about 8:30 this a.m. The snow was pretty well gone by 2:00p.m. It looked so clean and crisp that I am sorry to see it go---well, almost. lol
Daddy let the fur-babies loose and they are terrorizing the local squirrel population. I'm not sure who enjoys that more.....Daddy or the fur-babies!

Winter Kayaking in Lake Michigan

We took this picture the last sunday in February. We were making one of our customary stops at the beach in St. Joseph,MI. I couldn't believe my eyes when this guy pulled up and took out his kayak and headed for the water. Now that's dedication, well thats what some might call it.

Here is the results of some of my knitting time lately. My DGS just had his first sibling at age 14(almost 15, Grandma!). I made these for him to give to his new half-sister who was just born 2 days ago. He is already a doting big brother. lol He was pretty please about having these to give to his new Sissy. I spent this afternoon and evening making the little quilt that is peeking out from under the sweater set. It's just sort of a rail fence pattern in pink print flannel and plain white flannel with a bright pink fleece backing. Quick, easy, warm and cuddly! This isn't a very good pic, but I decided to add it anyway. The quilt is actually 35 inches square. Just a quickie, but this baby probably isn't going to have a very nice life. Her Momma has aready given away one child and will probably give this poor little thing to my ex-SIL to raise. That's what she did with the other child. Oh, don't even get me started on women who have babies in this day and age that they don't want. stepping down from soap-box
