Knittin' my little fingers off!

I have been knitting away on samples for my class on Sunday. No way will I have all of them done! I finished a red Encore Bulky hat with Red Fun Fur trim yesterday and knit over half of a matching scarf of just the red Fun fur. I got a swatch done of the TLC Lustre done today. I am going to make another set like the red one. I am using linen color TLC and a lite denim blue/brown Patons Cha Cha. Will get the hat cast on tonight. Karin and I have errands to run tomorrow and I am hoping to have her do the driving so I can knit.
Have camera, can't travel
I finally got a digital camera a couple weeks ago, because I wanted to be able to post pics to the web. Well, I have barely figured out the camera and there is no way that I am ready to start putting pics on my blog. But, I am dieing to get started showing of my work. After this knitting class is over, i am going to have to study up on how to post pics. I have been hoping that someone would come along and offer to help me.

I still have to start the first tier of rectangles on my Marketsquares Bag. I don't know why I can't get started on it. I am intimidated with the backwards knitting, maybe. Well, another project to save for after the knitting class at the Safe Shelter.
gotta to knit,

Here I am, again!

I have been computer-less most of the time since my last entry. I am using Karin's computer and staying elsewhere for a while, so the entries will be few and far between for a while, I'm afraid.
What's been knittin'
I finished a red chemo hat in Plymouth Dreambaby DK. I did a sort of checkerboard design on it. Completed a hat for Anne, but will have to re-knit that one. I need to make it a little longer from the brim to the crown. I have just a pinch of yarn left, so I'm hoping to squeek by and be able to get it big enough. I also finished the Babysweater KAL Precious Layette # 1. I started the new KAL(Suzanne's Matinee Sweater) on Fri the 21st and finished on Sun. the 23rd. Yeah.

I really like doing knit a longs. I am finding that they help me to stick with things and get them finished better than anything else that I have tried.
I am also doing the Marketsquares BAL(bag a long). I am stuck on the first round of squares. I have googled and tried to find help on the net for picking up the stitches and getting started. I went to a couple dozen sites and found nothing that "clicked" with me. I am determined to keep trying until I figure this out.

Knitting at the Safe Shelter.
I have been asked to teach knitting to the ladies at the safe shelter. I have acquired some ww yarn at less than cost from Ivelise's Yarn Shop in Benton Harbor. It is varigated pink/yellow/white. The class is this Sunday. I have to get busy and make needles and some more samples. i am going to make needles from wood dowels. Jared and I made some of these last spring and they are easy and fast and cheap! I am donating my time and the materials, so I am really trying to keep the cost down. I am really excited about this. Even one of the staff members wants to learn.

I'm back after-all

Well, I did get back here before Monday. Surprise, surprise! I have been busy all day working with my stash. Oh, my!!! I have sorted and organized and shuffled and re-arranged my yarn and WIP's and wanna be WIP's.

I got the yarns out for the MarketSquaresBAL and found the pattern book(not where I was "sure" it would be). Have the needles and a notebook and pen and accessories all safely in a tote bag ready to go when I get back home on Monday. Whoo-hoo! And I wound one skein of the main color into a ball!!!

I got the yarn wound into a ball for the Matinee Jacket KAL on the Babysweaters list. I have to finish a ufo to free up some needles. This one doesn't start until Jan 21, 2005. So, I have time to finish the red chemo hat that is occupying the needles right now. I only need to do a few more decrease rows and then weave in the ends. No biggie there.

I am packed and all ready to go when Karen and Jared get home from work/school. Talked to Bob and he was baking cookies to fill the cookie jar before we get there. Goofy man!!
I even have the laundry all ready to take out, too. Got the computer cd rom drive(writer) installed today and ordered more memory for the puter. Should be here by mid-week if there are no shipping problems. The sink is still full of dishes, but hey, one can only do so much in one day. Right!???

Got to run. Time to pick up Karen and Jared.
Till Monday,
DJ

Knittin' in the Neighborhood

This is my first post to my new, first time ever, blog. I have absolutely no idea what I am doing.
But I am sure going to give it a shot. Never to old to learn something new. Right?!
On the knitting front:
I just finished knitting a sweater for my little dog, Pudgy. I took pics of the sweater and the dog in the sweater. I started designing one for Bitsie, too.
Pudgy and Bitsie are 5 year old Shih Tsu/Yorkie mix. They will often be referred to as "the babies", "the girls", and maybe even on rare occasions as "the brats". They are very spoiled little girls. More about them at another time.
I am knitting a baby sweater for a knit a long on the Babysweater list on Yahoo. I am one of
the last of the group to finish. I am just ready to start the sleeves tomorrow. I would really like to finish the sweater this weekend. But, with bad weather in the forecast, I really need to concentrate on Bitsie's little red sweater.

I will be gone over the weekend, so I won't be back here until Monday, probably. That should
give me more knitting time.

I just joined the Marketsquarebal. we will be knitting a felted bag using the entrelac technique. This should be interesting, since I've never done entrelac before! The official starting date is Jan. 16, 2005. I won't be starting until the 17th or 18th. I do think that I have all the yarn and needles for the project already, because I was beginning to design a felted bag on my own before this opportunity came up. I'm looking forward to learning a new knitting skill. Got to keep those brain cells active!

There is a new KAL starting on Jan 21, 2005 on the Babysweater group on Yahoo, too. I plan to take part in that one, too. I really need to get a lot of knitting finished up in the next week!!
That's it for now.
